What Is The Best Natural Anti Aging Skincare

In my opinion, the best natural anti aging skincare comes from something that is extremely close to our own skin. It has a very similar cell biology, and contains everything our skin needs to repair and rejuvenate itself. Best of all, it is easily homemade.

Now, stick with me here, because you might find this a bit surprising. But let me tell you: Dont knock it until you try it.

The magic ingredient for the best natural anti aging skincare youve ever tried is grass fed tallow. Thats right! Of course, we can add other things to make it even better, like other ingredients with great skin benefits and anti aging essentials oils.

But first, hear me out on why grass fed tallow is simply the very best thing ever for your skin, and is the ultimate homemade anti aging skincare product.

When To Buy Moisturizer

While anyone can benefit from a good moisturizer, seniors especially can benefit from this crucial skincare step, as moisturizers can treat a host of issues associated with aging skin.

Your skins health is impacted by biological factors, including your age, gender and genetics, lifestyle factors like exercise, sleep, nutrition and skincare routine, and environmental factors like pollution, climate and sun exposure. By your 50s and 60s, you might start to notice signs of aging on your skin.

Different ingredients in moisturizers target different skin concerns associated with aging, including:

  • Dry skin, which can be treated with hyaluronic acid.
  • Thin and crepe-like skin, which can be treated with retinoids.
  • Sagging skin, which can be treated with vitamin C.
  • Wrinkles and fine lines, which can be treated with retinoids and bakuchiol.
  • Hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration, which can be treated with niacinamides.
  • Acne-prone mature skin, which can be treated with retinoids.
  • Sensitive skin, which can be treated with ceramides.

It is imperative to make sure that the moisturizer of choice has ingredients that help hydrate, rejuvenate and repair the skin, says Naana Boakye, M.D., a dermatologist and owner of Bergen Dermatology in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

What Essential Oils Can I Use On My Face

DIY Anti

Essential oils are very concentrated and potent. Diluting them before using them topically is important, especially when using them on the face. The face has sensitive skin, and if you put essential oils straight on the face, it may cause some irritation.

I use a few essential oils straight on my face, but I wouldnt recommend starting that way, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Yarrow Pom is my absolute favorite essential oil for my face. I have only had this essential oil for a little over a year, but I have used it on my face almost daily since I received it. It has a beautiful deep blue color and has powerful anti-aging properties. This essential oil was the first one I added to my face moisturizer recipe.

I like to stick to gentle essential oils on the face, like yarrow pom.

More Natural Ingredients For Youthful Looking Skin

  • Raw honey is full of enzymes and nutrients that are beneficial for skin. It also has natural preservative properties, which act as anti aging benefits for skin.
  • Rose hips are rich in vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant and helps to renew and brighten skin.
  • Aloe vera is so soothing and hydrating for skin.
  • Essential oils like frankincense, turmeric, rose, and lavender contain powerful anti aging properties.

If you would like to have a go at making my original wrinkle cream recipe, here it is. A few readers experienced separation issues when making this cream, but I know that many many more are very satisfied with the results. It is as a little harder to make due to the lack of emulsifying wax, but I still love it!

A Few Notes Before We Start

This recipe uses Emulsifying Wax NF. Some brands are petroleum based or may have extra additives, so read carefully before you buy. The kind I purchase from Mountain Rose Herbs is vegetable derived.

I know that some people have concerns with emulsifying waxes since theyre highly processed. If thats true for you, you can still use the same general idea of incorporating a basil extract into your favorite beeswax-based cream or lotion recipe. Just dont try to use beeswax as a direct substitute for the emulsifying wax in this recipe, because it doesnt work in the same manner.

I chose GMO-free avocado butter and hemp seed oil for their nourishing and moisturizing properties. I have slightly dry skin and also wanted to offset any potential drying from the witch hazel. You can get creative and switch up the butter and oil types as you wish in order to customize this lotion for your skins preferences and the ingredients you have on hand.

You need a scale for this recipe. I bought a Jennings JRS scale from Lotion Crafter thats perfect for making lotions & creams.

The Basics Of Making A Diy Anti

There are a few things to keep in mind when making a homemade wrinkle cream for aging skin.

First, it is important to use gentle, natural ingredients. Many commercial moisturizers contain artificial fragrances, dyes, and other harsh chemicals that can irritate the skin.

When choosing ingredients for your moisturizer, look for ones that are known to be gentle and beneficial for aging skin, such as aloe vera, rosehip oil, and shea butter.

Second, consider adding a few drops of essential oils to your moisturizer. Essential oils can provide a variety of benefits for the skin, such as reducing inflammation and redness.

Essential oils are versatile tools that are effective additions to homemade anti-aging creams. Ingredients like myrrh essential oil rejuvenates skin cells, while pomegranate seed oil contains the antioxidant power necessary to heal very dry skin.

Third, be sure to use a clean, sterile container for your moisturizer. To avoid contamination, be sure to clean and sterilize your container before each use.

And finally, remember that a little goes a long way. When applying a homemade face moisturizer, start with a small amount and increase as needed.

According to Grigore, if you have combination skin that’s oily in certain areas , it could be from a lack of moisture and using too many stripping products. Natural oils penetrate the pores quickly and help the skin start producing its own moisture againwhich is the ultimate goal, she explains. In terms of which oils to use, she recommends gentle, moisturizing hazelnut oil , hydrating, collagen-boosting avocado oil, and sesame and jojoba oil, both of which are light as can be and work wonders to keep bacteria a bay on the surface of your skin.

    Is Coconut Oil Anti Aging

Coconut oil has some great properties. It is anti microbial and antiviral, and is great for health when you consume it on a regular basis. But for skin, its not that amazing.

There are some places where it can be useful for skin. In my deodorant stick recipe, I do use coconut oil. The antibacterial properties help control odor.

If youre making something like an anti fungal cream, coconut oil is a great choice, especially if you add an essential oil like tea tree.

For a moisturizer, though, coconut oil is not that great. It sits on the surface of the skin without absorbing in well. Coconut oil can also actually be drying to the skin.

So is coconut oil anti aging? Nope. For plant based oils youre better off with something like avocado or jojoba oil. Better yet, skip the plants altogether and give your skin what it really needs with grass fed tallow.

Why Make Your Own Natural Moisturizer

  • Making your own beauty products is safer. Most store-bought beauty products contain tons of known carcinogens, hormone disruptors and skin irritants. These make up the ingredient lists of most moisturizers on the market today. Scroll down to the next section where we outline some of the most dangerous ingredients found in popular store-bought moisturizers.
  • Making your own beauty products lessens your chemical exposure. There are a growing number of safe store-bought brands out there, but most conventional brands contain dozens of ingredients, upping the amount of chemicals we put onto our skin every day. When you can get the job done just as effectively with just a handful of safe, food-grade ingredients, why take the risk?
  • Making your own beauty products is cheaper. It costs $15 on the raw ingredients but we didn’t use the entire jar of anything, so the exact recipe actually only cost about $4.63 to make: $3.96 for 1/2 cup of shea butter, $0.54 on 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and $0.13 on 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Finding a moisturizer under $5 that’s as effective and safe as this one is next to impossible.
  • Making your own beauty products is easy. I’ve said it beforeif you can measure liquid into a tablespoon or a cup, you can make your own beauty products! Its really that simple. In a matter of minutes, this moisturizer can be yoursand it lasts for 6+ months!

About The Ingredients In This Recipe

The oils in this recipe have been selected to promote quick and total absorption, preventing that lingering greasiness.

    • Avocado oil is excellent for all skin types and is most commonly known for its ability to soften, soothe, and recondition the skin. Its wonderful as a carrier oil and is just as fantastic in skin care creams.
    • Argan oil is great for dry and maturing skin, it is rich in vitamin E, very protective and helps keep skin supple.
    • Calendula is a very effective flower that makes for an excellent base for creams, salves, and facial recipes. It is cooling and gentle on the skin which also makes it fantastic for baby oil recipes. The infusion gives a soothing effect to the homemade wrinkle cream and is very useful for any dry or flakiness within the skin.
    • Frankincense essential oil will help to slow down the appearance of wrinkles and maybe even help to reduce the extent of the wrinkles you already have.
    • Lemon essential oil helps to banish facial wrinkles, clears the skin and helps to boost circulation. Lemon has a brightening effect on shallow skin, and a mild bleaching effect on age spots that can restore the tone back to your skin, giving it a more youthful look and feel.

Oil Substitutes: Evening Primrose Oil and Wheat Germ are two more fantastic skincare oils, as are Peach Kernel and Sweet Almond oil. I would be happy to substitute the Argan and or Avocado for any of these four, although the latter two will make the cream take a little longer to absorb.
