Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Primer

Foundation Friday Over 50 | Pat McGrath Skin Fetish!

The Sublime Perfection Primer is a silicone-free primer that has a very light pink tint but blends out to a transparent finish on the skin. It does blur and smooth the skin but it is heavily fragranced and on my skin I could feel it sit on top of my skin. It contains what they call filler powder which did work to fill in fine lines, but in this Florida humidity, especially this time of year, I need products that have a more weightless or fluid feel. It comes in a pump packaging and one pump covers the entire face. I felt like it did work nicely with the foundation, but due to the thick texture and feel, for me unfortunately this was a solid pass. I did not experience any irritation, even with the fragrance, but I think the foundation is good enough on its own.

My Thoughts On The Skin Fetish Foundation

Firstly, the packaging is amazing. The bottle is glass and feels very luxurious and sturdy. Obviously, youd expect this from a £61 foundation but its good to know it isnt a flop. The foundation features a pretty black and gold colour scheme.

Its also very easy to use the Sublime Perfection Foundation due to the pump dispenser top. Im not a fan of wand applicators when it comes to liquid products as it can be difficult to control how much product you use. However, the handy pump dispenser gives you control over how much foundation comes out of the bottle.

One of my favourite things about the Skin Fetish Foundation is how easy it is to build coverage. One layer gives you sheer coverage but you can easily work up to medium coverage. It doesnt matter how many layers you apply, the foundation will never look cakey or feel heavy. Its incredibly lightweight on the skin.

But my favourite thing about the Pat McGrath Foundation is the finish. Its definitely your skin but better as it gives a very natural, satin finish. The foundation catches the light beautifully, which makes your skin appear youthful, radiant and smooth. Its the prettiest foundation finish Ive ever seen and you can only truly appreciate its beauty in person.

The way the foundation reflects the light gives you a very lit from within look.

Pat Mcgrath Labs Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Foundation Review

My Pat McGrath Labs makeup collection is growing quickly and today Im going to be reviewing the Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Foundation.

Recently, Ive been loving dewier and more lightweight foundations. I used to be a full coverage matte foundation girl but as my skin has got better, I feel like glowy and softer foundations are more flattering on me.

So with this in mind, I wanted to share my thoughts on the high-end Pat McGrath Labs Sublime Perfection Foundation. This is a new addition to my makeup collection and definitely the most expensive foundation I own.

But is the foundation really worth £61? Keep on reading to hear my honest opinions.

Its undoubtedly the most luxurious foundation in my collection! Today, let me introduce the Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation by Pat McGrath Labs, and Ill also answer the question that everyone is asking: does this $68 foundation give you a top model skin?

When I went to Canada last summer, I was able to experience the foundation season from the inside

Wait a minute, you dont know what the foundation season is? You know, its this time of the year when all makeup brands decide to launch a new foundation at the same time!

And apparently this year, it was in August, with more than 25 new foundation launches !

Since its one of my favorite makeup products, it was difficult for me to resist the urge to buy some of them And especially the one from Pat McGrath Labs, the Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation!

Its clearly the most luxurious of all, and with its insane price , I was very curious I really wanted to know if it was all its cracked up to be.

The Beauty Gypsy Review: Pat Mcgraths Skin Fetish Foundation Primer And Powder

Over the last few weeks, I have found myself reaching for the new Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation more and more frequently. Even though I have about 89365948 foundations already, this has become The One whether its for a casual, barely thrown together face when I have just five minutes to spare or a buffed, polished, full-on-makeup look for a night out.

Which is slightly worrying, since a bottle clocks in at a cool $68. This may not make it the most expensive foundation I own thats Clé de Peaus The Foundation at $250 but its steep enough to have a refill sting the wallet.

Theres also a primer and powder but lets just talk about the foundation first, since its obviously the star of the show.

    Pat McGraths Skin Fetish Foundation

Back to why I have been reaching for this foundation so often its practically goof-proof and just so easy to use.

Which is not surprising since it has been almost 25 years in the making, in the hands of Mother .

Pat has worked on more runways, Met Galas and other high profile events than I can count, while also developing makeup for brands like Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana. And her signature is gorgeous, radiant, natural-looking skin.

So, yes, she definitely knows what goes into making the perfect foundation.

There is some rub-off for sure especially one my phone screen, which is constantly pressed to my face but overall wear-time has been a fabulous 10+ hours on a particularly crazy day.

Makeup Look Using The Pat Mcgrath Labs Sublime Perfection Foundation

I shared this dewy makeup look previously on my blog, but for anyone who didnt see it, I think this look showcases the beauty of the Pat McGrath Labs Foundation perfectly.

As you can see, my skin still looks like skin, but the foundation gives gorgeous and even coverage. The Skin Fetish Foundation makes my skin look really healthy and radiant. Plus, its a perfect match for my skin tone.

It also blends out so easily into the skin, which makes it ideal to work with. Its truly magical.

Pat Mcgrath Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Concealer Technology:

PAT MCGRATH SKIN FETISH SUBLIME PERFECTION FOUNDATION & POWER REVIEW

    HIGHLIGHT at CONTOUR

Para i-highlight, pumili ng shade na dalawa hanggang tatlong shade na mas light kaysa sa kulay ng iyong balat at ihalo sa matataas na bahagi ng mukha.

    MAGBUO NG COVERAGE

The fluid-like, oil-free formula features several proprietary ingredients that are as fancy as the brushed glass bottle’s beveled edges. The first is what Pat McGrath Labs calls the “Vita-Serum Complex,” which helps skin generate its natural production of hyaluronic acid to keep it plump, nourished, and bright. The other is “diamond core powder technology.” From what I understand, the pigments in the foundation have a diamond shape that allows light to reflect off them like, well, a diamond. They also give skin a more even, blurred finish.

A $55 foundation brush will be launching, too, but don’t be afraid to blend in the foundation with your hands. You can catch McGrath backstage slathering foundation on models’ skin like a moisturizer with her whole hand and pressing it in with her fingertips for more coverage. If hands are good enough for her, then they’re good enough for you, too.

Step 3: Sublime Perfection Setting Powder

And for the final step? “She’s a legend,” McGrath jokes. “One swoosh takes you to that retouched moment.” The Sublime Perfection Setting Powder comes in five shades that coordinate with the foundation subsections. Just like the foundation, the micro-fine powder is buildable: One layer creates a fine film, two layers amp up the coverage, and three will make sure you’re photo-ready for whatever big event you may have.

My Test And Thoughts: Pat Mcgrath Labs Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation

The brand describes it as a lightweight, long-lasting and buildable foundation, with light to medium coverage and a natural, satin sublime skin finish. Its available in an extensive range of 36 shades!

Lets look at it in detail!

Its lightweight finish:Indeed, with its very liquid texture, it reminds me of a serum foundation. You can barely feel it on your skin, which is very nice if you plan to use it every day. Be careful if you have sensitive skin, however, because this light finish is due to a high percentage of alcohol in the formula.

Its buildable:Yes, without a doubt, you can really layer it to build the coverage and it remains rather natural. Usually, I apply it with a wet sponge and it works very well! You can also use your fingers if you want more coverage. This is what I do in the areas I want to correct more.

A natural/ skin-like and satin finish:Yes, definitely. Its finish is lovely, very skin-like, glowy and natural. By the way, I bought it at the end of August in Canada and I loved that luminous finish there, but once I got back to Dubai in early September, it was another story Indeed, in Dubai in September, its 45° Celsius minimum during the day, with a lot of humidity. Using a satin finish foundation with my combination skin and this sweaty weather was a disaster! I had to wait for the temperatures to drop a little bit before I could use it and enjoy its luminous finish again!

Well then obviously, I have to discuss its price

Put Your Foundation On Like A Moisturizera Trick Mcgrath Approaches For Skin Backstage

Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Foundation ingredients ...

McGrath focused on the idea that skin should look like skinâand the best way to achieve that is with a foundation that feels like skincare. âThe way Iâve always approached foundation is always just put it on like a moisturizer. ⦠I think your foundation needs to feel like your skincare routineâeasy.â

    Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Foundation

The Sublime Perfection Foundation is an oil-free formula that comes in 36 colors with a range of different undertones . Based on the color descriptions online compared to what I swatched I do think the undertones are accurate. I was matched sight unseen to Medium 15 . I am very tan right now and since my skin lightens and tans very easily depending on the sun I went to my local Sephora to check out the other shades. I bought Light Medium 14 which I think will be my normal non-tan shade . These days I find I often have to mix colors anyways so I felt it was worth buying one shade lighter.

I got a couple mini samples in store as well, shades swatched include :

    • Light Medium 12 Light Medium w/ red undertones
    • Light Medium 13 Light Medium w/ yellow undertones
    • Light Medium 14 Light Medium w/ neutral/olive undertones
    • Medium 15 Medium w/ yellow undertones*
    • Medium 16 Medium w/ red undertones*
    • Medium 17 Medium w/ neutral yellow undertones*
    • Medium 18 Medium w/ neutral/olive undertones*
    • Medium 19 Medium w/ peach undertones*
    • Medium 20 Medium w/ red undertones*

    A few swatch comparisons:

Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Foundation Brush And Powder Brush

There are two new brushes that are part of her system. The Foundation Brush is smaller and dense for full coverage and buffing. It performed well for me, but Ive always been more of a sponge person when it comes to foundation as I get better control and better smoothing with a sponge. The Powder Brush is one I really like it has the perfect amount of fluff and the size is perfect for me. Its perfectly tapered and it held up well to a couple washes already. I do think these are on the spendy side. While I think they are good tools I would personally save up for more of her lipsticks or eyeshadow palettes instead.

Did your mouth also drop when Pat McGrath came out with a $70 foundation? My max is $50 for a foundation and that in itself is a rare occurrence. If its over my threshold, that sh** better be extra magical!! Curiosity got the best of me, but instead of just outright buying the full-size bottle I opted for a sample first. I got enough of it to use it a few times, so Ill just call this an abridged review.

The Sublime Perfection Foundation is a long wearing, liquid formula that offers medium coverage. It is supposed to smooth and blur lines, pores, and imperfections while giving a luminous finish. Each bottle comes with 1.18oz of product and retails for $68. Woo!

As usual, I used this foundation with no primer and set it with Beccas Hydra-mist. I got the shade Light 6 and found it to be a very good color match. It has a very slight pink undertone that matches my face well without making my neck look like a completely different color. This formula is pretty awesome- it has a gel like texture and goes on super smooth like a thin serum. I loved how lightweight it was and my skin could still breathe. I thought it gave a very natural finish instead of luminous, coverage of pores was about 50%, overall coverage was medium, and I could still see my skin texture. It didnt settle in my fine lines and looked very natural, which is right up my alley.
