How Long Does Radio Frequency Skin Tightening Last
New collagen and elastin will be produced in the body for up to 6 months after your initial sessions of Radio Frequency treatments. However, if you continue you to top-up with regular visits to the clinic, the results of RF are often long-lasting. RF is considered one of the best non surgical ways to tighten loose skin.
Radio Frequency Skin Tightening For Stomach
Radio frequency skin tightening for stomach info. Can RF tighten loose skin on the stomach, thighs, and buttocks without injections or surgery? Yes! If you are looking for an inexpensive, safe, non-surgical solution to tighten skin on your stomach, thighs, and buttocks then radio frequency treatments may be just what you need. Body contouring is becoming more popular these days because of the numerous problems associated with obesity.
Many people have started resorting to procedures that can help them in getting back into shape without having to go through surgeries that cost a lot of money and pose risks too! There are many ways in which body contouring can be done but one of the most effective is through radiofrequency treatment. This form is also popular and is known to give effective results.
Radio frequency treatment essentially uses radiofrequency waves which are also called high-frequency currents. These help in stimulating the production of new collagen inside the skin which causes tightening of the skin on various parts of the body. Radio Frequency treatments for different parts of the body include abdominoplasty, thigh lift, buttocks lifts, etc. The wraps that are used by actresses like Jennifer Lopez who want to reduce flab on their body are actually radio frequency treatment devices!
Besides tightening loose skin on your stomach, thighs, and buttocks, radio frequency treatment also has several benefits that include:

What Does The Treatment Involve
Following your consultation and the formulation of a treatment plan, you will be scheduled for your procedure. The length of the procedure depends on the number of areas which are being treated. Treatment time can range from 20 to 60 minutes.
The treatment involves passing the RF handpiece over the skin, the choice of handpiece is dependent on the area being treated. During the treatment, the deep skin layers are gradually heated while the skin surface stays at around 40 degrees . The skin temperature is monitored to ensure the correct energy is being used. The handpiece releases RF energy deep into the dermis to begin the collagen contraction and stimulation.
The treatment is comfortable and you will feel a sensation of warmth as RF energy passes through the skin. It is relaxing and many describe it as a warm massage. Following the treatment, the skin will be red and appear tighter and plumper.
The treatment is significantly more comfortable than older forms of RF treatment such as Thermage.

Radiofrequency For Facial Fat Melting
With radiofrequency treatments of every type, there is a possibility of fat loss. When enough intense RF energy reaches the subcutaneous layer, fat cells can get destroyed. While in some cases , this is exactly what a patient might be after, it can also be a real issue: if you have a relatively narrow or gaunt face, fat loss can make you look more tired and aggravate slackening skin.
Many brands and therapists are at pains to explain that fat loss only happens when a device isnt used properly, or when its set to fat loss mode. But when a machine doesnt allow for very precise control of just where the energy travels, the therapist isnt always the issue.
RF microneedling devices allow for more control than bulk-heating monopolar and bipolar RF machines. However, plastic surgeon Dr Angela Kavouni says that with a next-generation device such as the Thermage FLX , which distributes its energy in a controlled and uniform way, this simply cant happen. When used properly by a certified doctor, Thermage FLX should not melt away fat, she says. Other mono and bipolar devices have their own technologies to control the energy as much as possible, but this is never 100% fool-proof. The risk of unwanted fat loss is small, but it does happen.
There are also monopolar RF devices that specifically aim to heat the subcutaneous fat layer and contract it: one example is the Exilis Elite, which is used for the face but also the body, as we shall see below.
What Is Rf Body Contouring
RF Body Contouring refers to the non-invasive procedure where by Radio Frequency energy is emitted deep into the skin layers to tighten the skin or melt stubborn subcutaneous fat without any pain, surgery or downtime.
At Elite Body Contouring we offer both RF Skin Tightening and RF Fat Melting. During your initial consultation, one of our body contouring experts will assess your concerns and created a tailored treatment program according to your goals.
Both of our RF Body Contouring procedures utilise different headpieces and work to either stimulate the bodys natural production of collagen and elastin or liquify stubborn fat cells, resulting in volume reduction .

How Does Radio Frequency Treatment Work
Radio Frequency technology is ideal for tightening skin on areas of the body such as the stomach, legs and under the arms. An electrical current is delivered to the targeted area and the skin recognises this as a source of energy that it can use. The skin acts as a resistor and heats up, typically to around 40-45° Celsius in the case of Bipolar body tightening. This stimulates fibroblast action and encourages the growth of collagen, causing the muscle layer to contract and repair.
So Are Radiofrequency Treatments Really Safe
With quick, comfortable treatment, zero downtime, and no scars, non-surgical skin tightening has become a popular way for patients to enhance their appearance and self-confidence without taking time for surgery and recovery.
Radiofrequency, the technology used by Thermi, Exilis, Profound RF, Thermage, etc., has been used for non-surgical skin tightening since 2001 however, it has only recently gained widespread recognition, thanks to high-profile celebrities who rave about the benefits of their RF treatments. If youre new to the idea of non-surgical RF treatments as a way to improve your appearance, you may wonder, are they safe?
In short, yesas long as you choose an experienced provider, such as a board certified cosmetic surgeon, who offers FDA cleared technologies. However, the more you know, the better choices you can make about your treatment options, so weve explored this question in greater detail below.

How Does This Procedure Work
Radio frequency helps to concentrate the bodys collagen fibres and encourages the quick regeneration of the collagen and elastin that we lose as we age. This results in a firmer, more youthful look.
The local heating causes an immediate contraction of collagen fibres and at the same time increases the metabolism of the fibroblasts thereby accelerating the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. The concentration of collagen fibres and the regeneration of the collagen and elastin deposits, tighten the skin layers creating a smoother, healthier and younger looking skin.

How Does It Work
The Radio Frequency skin tightening device has a delivery depth of approximately 4mm, targeting the dermal tissue and creating a healthier and tighter dermis.
The Focused Fractional Radio Frequency does this by gently but consistently heating the dermis and subcutaneous layers to 40-42 degrees. This stimulates fibroblast action, which works to increase the synthesis of new collagen and elastin.
The thermal trauma that has been delivered to 5-30% of the collagen fibres causes immediate contraction of the fibres, which produces new collagen.
Old and sagging collagen fibres to break down and the body immediately starts to rebuild and produce new collagen and elastin.
See the diagram below of the difference in old and new collagen fibres. The new collagen is thicker in diameter and the spaces between the fibres have been visibly reduced under a microscope.

Radiofrequency Treatments To Tighten Skin
If youre looking to tighten skin and plump out wrinkles, you want to consider bipolar/multipolar radiofrequency devices such as Venus Freeze and Endymed Tighten, or monopolar/unipolar machines such as Thermage and Pellevé . These devices bulk-heat the tissues just below the surface of the skin but are non-ablative, which means they dont remove layer of skin or damage the surface in any way. Instead, they cause a level of injury in the deeper skin layers, resulting, over time, in a wound-healing and subsequent firming, smoothing response.
Radiofrequency microneedling, made famous by machines such as the Morpheus 8 and Focus Dual, is the turbo-charged tightening option well go into this a bit later in this article.
Full-face polar RF treatments take about 45 minutes with usually no downtime apart from slight reddening of the skin. Thats when theyre done by a skilled practitioner. There are no restrictions on who can perform these treatments though. A machine that can heat skin significantly and even melt fat in the hands of a cosmetic cowboy can cause burns, blisters and unwanted fat loss all have been reported. So always choose a reputable clinic!

What Are Radiofrequency Waves
RF waves are a form of radiation. Radiation is the release of energy in the form of electromagnetic waves.
It can be classified as low energy or high energy depending on the amount of energy released. X-rays and gamma rays are examples of high energy radiation while RF waves are considered low energy.
Radio waves, WiFi, and microwaves are all forms of RF waves.
The form of radiation used in RF skin tightening releases about 1 billion times less energy than X-rays.
Which Radiofrequency Microneedling Treatment Is Best
Which machine is best is very much a matter of opinion, but the more treatments are advised , the less strong the treatment is.
The best results are dependent on the skill and experience of your practitioner and on what your skin requires and is able to tolerate. The most powerful doesnt equate to the best for everyone.
What is important is precision-delivery of the energy, which RF microneedling is much better at than bipolar or monopolar RF. Precision is important because you dont want to accidentally heat the skin surface too much and cause burns or excessive downtime. At the same time, you dont unwittingly want to go too deep either and end up with facial fat cells being destroyed, which could make you look gaunt. Unless of course fat melting, such as under the chin, is what you have booked in for
As said, there are many good machines that can deliver this treatment and they will all roughly get you the same results. Without going into too much detail, here are a few facts about the three latest, most written-about, and arguably most advanced devices.

What Is Radiofrequency Skin Tightening
Ever heard of Thermage? That’s just one example of a radiofrequency device designed to target the texture, firmness, and overall appearance of skin. But how does it work?
Radiofrequency therapy is a non-invasive/non-surgical treatment to address fine lines and sagging skin, explains board-certified, New York-licensed Physician Assistant, Gabrielle Garritano, who is the founder and CEO of Ject. This procedure uses energy waves to heat the deep layers of your skin , thus stimulating the production of fibroblasts, which play a critical role in the production of collagen and wound healing. When the energy waves make contact, Garritano says that they trigger tissue contraction, effectively resulting in tighter skin.
While radiofrequency skin tightening is a wonderful treatment all on its own, Howard Sobel, founder of Sobel Skin and Attending Dermatologist and Dermatologic Surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, says that Vivacea combination of microneedling treatment, radiofrequency , and LED light therapyis especially popular at his practice. Vivace laser treatment encompasses the next wave of skin rejuvenation therapy and diminishes fine lines, wrinkles, and other blemishes, and provides a more youthful appearance by firming and lifting sagging skin, he explains.

In a bipolar RF facial, radiofrequency energy is conducted in and back out of the skin between two or more electrodes in the same handset, like a sort of loop or stitch of light.
You have a gel applied to your skin and a headpiece is slid back and forth along your face and neck, which allows your therapist to control the heating of the skin: it should be brought to and kept between 40 and 43 degrees C but no higher, says aesthetic practitioner and clinical director of Essexs Facial Aesthetics Clinic Julie Scott. If not, the heat will become unbearable and side effects such as burns and unwanted fat loss might ensue .
The heat only goes as deep as 2mm max, which affects the collagen-generating epidermis and superficial dermis to a point where the production of these plumping, firming cells is revved up. Dr Sophie Shotter tells us that the partial collagen injury achieved in this way is quite minor, which is why its the type of treatment you need to have a series of, with regular top-ups every few months, to see and maintain the subtle tightening effect.
