Good night vision is important for airline pilots and those flying after dark. Night vision may be affected by isotretinoin. Pilots taking isotretinoin or considering a course of isotretinoin must report to their national aviation authority to discuss how this treatment affects their flying privileges.
In New Zealand, this is the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand. Civil aviation licence holders, including Air Traffic Controllers, have an obligation under section 27 C of the Civil Aviation Act to ground self and report to CAA in case of any change in medical condition that may affect flight safety. All females who could biologically have a child should take the following precautions during treatment with isotretinoin and for four weeks after the medication has been discontinued:
- Abstinence. The most reliable method of avoiding pregnancy is not to have sex. No method of contraception is completely reliable. “Natural” family planning is particularly risky.
- If sexually active, two reliable methods of contraception should be used. Discuss contraception with your doctor . The combined oral contraceptive, IUD , a progesterone implant, or medroxyprogesterone injection may be suitable.

This is so me, I feel like Ive come to the ends road now. Up until now, Ive been thinking what is still left for me to fix, wether its my gut, my mood, my inflation levels.. And I realised that, Im still producing abnormal sebum levels. To the point where its rather gross. Even with green tea and DHT blocker my skin still produces quite a lot of oil.. I think that accutane might be a last resort.
Also, I found a study that concluded that applying a topical retinoid after accutane treatment was over, reduced the relapse rate by 30%
Yep, I think sebum production is one of the least controllable aspects of acne. In some cases you can reduce it, but generally speaking theres not that much you can do about it. I mean aside from isotretinoin and some invasive treatments that actually destroy the sebacious glands.
I would expect that any topical treatment you use during/after isotretinoin reduces relapse rates.
Relapse rates are probably defined/measured by looking at how many people require another treatment to treat acne. So anything that keeps acne under control would, by this definition, reduce relapse rates. I think this is flawed way to measure relapse rates, but thats what I assume is going on.
I think I remember reading that in the studies, i.e. taking lower doses minimizes risk of elevated liver enzymes.

Acne: Low Dose Isotretinoin 10 Mg Daily Is Effective With Fewer Side Effects
The latest Alberta Tools for Practice1 found that small randomized controlled trials and observational studies demonstrate low-dose isotretinoin improves acne similar to conventional dosing. Low-dose may reduce common side effects by 16-35% but may be associated with increased relapse rates, particularly with severe acne and/or possibly impacted by lower total accumulated dose. Dr Marius Rademaker alluded to this in his 2013 article where he suggests starting start with doses of 10 mg/day, and continue until all the active acne lesions have resolved and continue treatment for a further 24 months, perhaps at the lower dose of 510 mg/day to reduce the risk of relapse and help with resolution of acne scarring.2 I have been using the Rademaker approach for over two years and have had excellent results and no cracked lips nor red faces. I have no cases of flares as predicted by him.

Isotretinoin is one of the therapeutic options for rosacea. However, the response of erythema to treatment with isotretinoin is usually slow and incomplete with common or low doses. This study investigated the efficacy of, and relapse on, 20 mg/day isotretinoin treatment in rosacea, with the aid of instrumental measurement of facial erythema and sebum levels. A 20 mg/day dose of isotretinoin was given for 4 months, and then the dose was tapered off within the following 6 months. A total of 25 patients were included in the study. Papule and pustule counts, erythema index, sebum level, dermatologists and patients erythema scores, and dermatologists sebum scores were significantly lower in the first month of therapy compared with pre-treatment values . Within a median follow-up of 11 months 45% of patients had a relapse. In conclusion, 20 mg/day isotretinoin was rapidly efficient for reducing both inflammatory lesions and erythema in rosacea. What Is Medication Like

This is because Accutane® is a powerful medication that can have some uncomfortable side effects, like skin dryness and redness, which often presents on the lips or palms. Low-dose Accutane® has almost no side effects. The most common is dry lips. One particular requirement of Accutane® treatment is that female patients who are sexually active must make sure to avoid pregnancy. Accutane® cannot be taken when youre pregnant because of harm to a growing fetus. In order to get a prescription of Accutane®, female patients must prove theyre not pregnant by taking a pregnancy test in the office.
