Tip #: Trap Moisture After A Nighttime Shower
If you shower at night, theres a moisture opportunity you may have been missing out on. When you hop out of the shower, dont rush to dry off with your towel. Instead of wiping away every last water droplet, you can trap that moisture on your skin by applying moisturizer before it dries. Smooth Ultra Facial Creamwhich can be used anytime of day but makes an amazing night creamonto damp skin post-shower. The formula provides lasting hydration for soft, smooth, healthy-looking skin.
As for the rest of your skin, thats a job for Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter. In the morning, when you have 10 seconds to throw on your outfit, you might not make time to apply body butter and let it soak in. When your day is wrapping up, however, you can make it part of your night routine to hydrate skin all over. Apply the indulgent body butter with shea butter, jojoba butter, and honey to damp skin after bathing or showering to maximize its moisturizing benefits.
Kiehl’s Expert Tip: Speaking of your shower routine, make sure you arent turning the temperature on too high. Steaming H2O may feel spectacular against your skin in the moment, but one thing is for sure: It isnt the secret to how to cure dry skin overnight. Rather, hot water can dry out your skin further. Instead, wash with lukewarm water.
Home Remedy #: Raw Honey
As a rich source of humectant, honey adds moisture to the skin. Since skin dryness is known to exacerbate rosacea, adding moisture can help to keep symptoms at bay.
Raw Manuka honey is considered one of the most effective home remedies for rosacea on your nose, face, and skin. Apply a small amount of honey to your face and let it dry. Wait 30 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.
Tip #: Hydrate Dry Hands And Feet
Dry feet rubbing against your sheets is akin to nails on a chalkboard. Because your feet and hands are two of the most active parts of your body, theyre receptive to becoming dry. Its important to take the necessary steps to moisturize them.
For your hands, we recommend using a heavy-duty hand cream to help soften and soothe them. Ultimate Strength Hand Salve, which is formulated with avocado oil, eucalyptus oil, and sesame seed oil fits the bill. The salve helps soothe, moisturize, and condition skin. This blend of select ingredients allows skin to draw and absorb water from the air, forming a “glove-like” protective barrier to prevent moisture loss without feeling greasy.
As for your feet, apply a foot cream or body lotion all over them before bed. Give yourself a little foot massage to make this a moment of self-care. Then, slip a pair of socks on to keep the lotion from ending up all over your sheets instead of your skin.
Kiehl’s Expert Tip: For extra dry hands, you can elaborate on the same idea: Put on cotton gloves after your hand cream to trap the moisture where it belongs.

Omega Fatty Acids For Hydration
On the topic of fatty acids, omega fatty acids also work as hydrators for peeling skin. Some of the best nutrients for supporting your skin are omega-3 fatty acids. These acids are essential nutrients that help to build and maintain your bodys health.
The three main omega-3 fatty acids are ALA , DHA , and EPA .
Your body does not produce ALA independently and instead obtains it through consuming foods rich in nutrients. Your body can then convert a portion of the ALA into EPA and DHA, in turn increasing your bodys levels of these omega-3 fatty acids. Therefore, incorporating more omega-3 fatty acids into your diet can increase your intake and improve your skins health.
You can up your omega-3 fatty acid intake by taking dietary supplements like fish oil and krill oil, or you can eat foods rich in omega-3s such as e nuts, seeds, and seafood.
Should Facial Redness Ever Concern You
A little red skin here and there is frustrating, but should it be cause for concern? At the end of the day, its up to you to decide if your facial redness is out of character for your skin.
Redness can be a sign of an underlying issue such as lupus, shingles or a systemic allergy such as a medicine reaction. If you have tried over-the-counter remedies without success, see a dermatologist for further evaluation. Even if it isn’t one of these more serious conditions, it still might require a prescription, Bank said.

How To Identify An Allergic Reaction
As SELF explained previously, there are actually two types of contact dermatitis: irritant and allergic. If something is causing irritant contact dermatitiscommonly referred to as just “irritation”it’s affecting the stratum corneum, the protective top layer of skin that keeps things like irritants and allergens out.
But if a product leaves you with allergic contact dermatitis, it’s causing an allergic response involving cells in your skin that are part of your immune system, Jennifer Mancuso, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist at the University of Michigan, tells SELF.
In general, “how look and feel is actually very similar,”Nada Elbuluk, M.D., clinical assistant professor of dermatology and director of the Skin of Color Center and Pigmentary Disorders Clinic at USC Keck School of Medicine, tells SELF. Both types of contact dermatitis can cause symptoms such as burning, stinging, itchiness, scaling, flaking, and redness. But there may be some differences between them, the American Academy of Dermatology explains.
But if your contact dermatitis stems from an allergy, your symptoms are likely to be more severe, including intense burning, itching, excessive dryness, and a red rash that often spreads beyond the area where the product was applied, Dr. Ogunleye says. You could also develop hives, a type of raised and itchy rash associated with allergic reactions.
How To Prevent Sore Spots
You can help reduce friction with a product called Duoderm. This is a gel-like substance that helps wounds heal and can prevent additional skin damage. Apply it to the areas where the sores appear.
Duoderm can be purchased over-the-counter in drugstores. You can also use products like Vaseline or zinc oxide.

How To Treat Acne
Standard acne treatments may not be the right choice for mask-related acne. Treatments like benzoyl peroxide and retinoids may take a while to work and can be irritating.
Instead, you should:
- Wash your face twice a day with a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser. This is a skincare product that does not clog pores.
- If you can, limit how much time you spend wearing your mask. If you aren’t usually prone to getting acne, your skin should clear up as you spend less time wearing a face covering.
A productâs comedogenic level is sometimes measured on a scale of 1 to 5. The lower the number, the less likely it will clog your pores. A 5 would clog pores the most.
How Bad Was My Acne
My acne wasn’t bad all the time , but still I had about 4 to 7 nasty looking pimples at once – almost everyday.
Not to mention flare ups that multiplied everything and made it even worse.
But once I started using an antioxidant treatment – it was almost unbelievable to see how fast everything was fading.
And I HIGHLY recommend using an oral antioxidant treatment if you’re suffering from mild to severe acne .
I used the Derma Drinkables treatment because it’s the strongest one by far, but it does cost more than the other ones so it’s your decision on what you prefer.
If you can get your hands on any of these food before you got top sleep , it will help tremendously by tomorrow morning.
Step 6: How to heal face scabs once you wake up.
Alright now for the morning.
Here’s what you should do after waking up tomorrow:
Take a hot shower, and very gently wash the are around your scar with an exfoliating face wash.
Rinse off your face and gently pat it dry.
Gently rub an ice cube across your scar
Now softly , try and pull your scar off from one end. It should come off relatively easy.
You should see that the skin underneath is only a bit lighter than your normal skin tone – making it barely noticeable.
It will recolor and blend itself in within the next 2 days.
I suggest applying oil-free moisturizer over the entire area, along with the rest of your face.

Treat Inflammation And Irritation
Jordi Salas / Getty Images
“Irritation and redness can happen for many different reasons,” explains Rouleau. “Possibly from over-exfoliation , an allergic reaction, or enzymes that increase heat in sensitive skin.”
“A thin layer of a cortisone cream can reduce rashes and irritation when used once a day,” says Rouleau. “You can also splash the skin with cold water or hold a frozen bag of peas or corn over a thin towel over the face. The cold temperature will greatly reduce the skins internal temperature to reduce redness, irritation, and puffiness.”
Guanche also notes, “Inflammation and irritation will naturally subside without treatment. However, if it is severe, you can apply over-the-counter hydrocortisone 1 percent cream to the face twice a day until the irritation resolves. Soothing hydrogel masks and blue/red light treatments also help to soothe and reduce redness and welting from a facial. Some skin types are much more sensitive and likely to have redness afterward than others.”
Other than that, I’m a huge devotee of Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Calming Serumit contains active, plant-based ingredients meant to rebalance and calm any irritated skin, and help reduce redness.
If you notice that your skin is really bothered after a facial, reach out to your esthetician or dermatologist to make sure everything is okay. The last thing you want is for a serious allergic reaction to go untreated.
Layer On A Gentle Cream
Now its time to layer on a veryplain moisturizer nothing with fragrance or strong active ingredients like retinol orhydroquinone. On a good day those ingredients can be intense,so its best to avoid them so you dont further irritate or inflame your skin. Personally, I like the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. Its packed with skin-soothing ingredients like oatmeal and allantoin, which is great for calming and repairing your skin barrier. Just avoid applying it on your pimple patches as the moisture can cause them to slide off.
At this point I will also use a glycolic acid-based serum on any older spots to help even out my skin. Dont apply it on your new wounds, though: will help fade dark spots once the picked spot is healed, but shouldnt be used on open skin, says Rabach. Thats because it can cause further irritation to sensitive, raw skin, she explains.
Ways To Use Honey On Your Face Overnight
One of the easiest ways to use honey on your face overnight is to apply a thin layer directly to the skin as a honey face mask. In the morning, you can simply rinse it off with cool water using circular motions.
Unfortunately, this method can be quite sticky and messy. Honey is delicious in a cup of tea, but the idea of getting it all over your bed linens is much less appealing. So, we suggest using honey-infused skincare products instead.
Gisous Honey Infused Face Oil is a fast-absorbing, non-comedogenic face oil that can be used day or night. It nourishes the skin with all the benefits of Mirsalehi Honey, plus 95.7% cold-pressed botanical oils from the Mirsalehi Bee Garden.
Our Honey Infused Face Oil balances the skin to promote a clear complexion. It also contains potent antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals to heal, nourish, and rejuvenate the skin. Applying a few drops before bed is a wonderful way to wake up with glowing, radiant skin.
Using honey as an overnight lip treatment can also get a little messy! Thats why we created Gisous Honey Infused Lip Oil with a convenient applicator thats easy to use during the day, as well as at night before you go to bed. Its rich in fatty acids to smooth, condition, and restore dry lips.
