Your Night Skincare Routine Steps
You’ll want to switch up your skincare routine at night â and not just because you don’t need SPF while you sleep! Your nighttime routine is the perfect time to make sure your skin is getting as many nutrients and active ingredients as possible, since your skin regenerates and repairs itself while you snooze, Dr. Magovern says . You’ll still follow the same basic three steps â cleanse, treat and moisturize â but at night, the routine will look a little bit different.
Tip #1: Utilize Your Vitamin Serum
Complete nutrition for the epidermis is critical. The epidermis is a key protective structure that uses 23 vitamins. These vitamins must be provided at therapeutic concentrations and delivered within the epidermis for optimum skin health. A vitamin serum is non-irritating and formulated with vitamins A, B, C, D, and E to give skin the nutrition it needs. Carl Thornfeldt, MD
Do: Try Doctor Recommended Topical Medications
Some topical medications such as BHA, benzoyl peroxide, and azelaic acid can also help improve the look of skin and promote a clearer complexion. Although, its always best to ask your dermatologist about these first to see if they make sense for you. BHA, also called salicylic acid, is especially good at penetrating deep into the pores where it works to unglue dead cells from each other so that we can purge them from our pores, explains Dr. Ciraldo. This helps to clear existing and prevent new acne breakouts, she adds. As far as benzoyl peroxide is concerned, Dr. Ciraldo says that this topical medication is also an exfoliant but works as an antibacterial, too. That being said, if your skin tends to be on the dryer and sensitive sides of the spectrum, it might be best to stick with salicylic because benzoyl peroxide is typically more drying and irritating than BHA. If your goal is clear skin and a brighter-looking complexion, azelaic acid might be for you as it works to bring clarity and, according to Dr. Ciraldo, can help promote a brighter complexion, too.

Wash Your Makeup Brushes
Make sure to wash your makeup brushes regularly with brush cleanser or baby shampoo. If you use makeup sponges, wash those too. These tools can accumulate bacteria, which can lead to breakouts. Dirty brushes can make the most expensive skincare routines go to waste.
Here’s how to properly wash your face brushes.
Other Useful Tips To Have Perfect Skin:
- Drink lots of water to keep your skin dehydrated.
- Include valuable proteins in your daily diet. Reduce intake of sugary items.

- Reduce fat in your daily diet. Do not drink soft drinks or alcoholic beverages.

Reduce Smoking And Alcohol Consumption
Men, you need to ditch the smokes to get clear skin! Smoking makes your skin age prematurely. Conditions such as hidradenitis suppurativa and psoriasis may get worse with smoking.
Quitting smoking is believed to slow facial ageing and delay the appearance of wrinkles. Thats why a non-smokers skin gets more nutrients, including oxygen.
Alcohol too has an effect on hormonal levels, which dehydrates your skin, causes acne and accelerates signs of aging. Giving up alcohol will make your skin clearer and more natural.
Watch Sun Exposure Indoors
Yes, you read it right: UV rays can penetrate the windows in your home and office and cause wrinkling and brown spots. The same goes for car windows: Studies have found higher rates of skin cancers on the left side of the face and upper body than on the right, since that side is more exposed when you’re driving. Cancers aside, “many people have more wrinkles and sun damage on the left side of their faces, too,” notes Donofrio. Make protection a no-brainer by always wearing a moisturizer with SPF.

Pay Attention To Your Cleanser
It may sound counterintuitive, but if you have dry skin, your choice of face wash may be even more important than your moisturizer. “A nonsoap cleanser is ideal because it helps replace the moisture barrier in the skin,” Donofrio says.
“Consider it a preventive approach,” adds Berson. “You can use your cleanser to avoid dryness, eczema, and psoriasis, rather than just treating these issues when they flare up.” That said, applying a moisturizer after you cleanse is still smart. And if you’re using an acne medication, wait 10 minutes after you wash to minimize irritation.

Not Just On Your Face
Not all skin is created equal, so be sure to moisturize accordingly. Nora Ephron warned us about our necks the skin is thicker and needs more moisture than other body parts so bring the face creams a little further south to hit often neglected body parts. Take it one step further and keep nails and cuticles in shape by wearing gloves after applying hand cream.
Don’t Skip Your Morning Wash
Hairstyling products get absorbed by your pillowcase then transfer to your skin if it’s not cleared away in the am, it’ll clog your pores all day long. For your before-school wash, try something brightening that’ll help wake up your skin. If you have a hard time getting up in the morning, a cooling face wash can help you really look alive. Test out the Bioré Blemish-Fighting Ice Cleanser. It literally cools your skin as it cleans.
Suds up your cleanser in your hands first
This sounds pointless, but it actually helps to activate the pimple-fighting ingredients within the face wash formula. A quick suds makes them more effective when applied to your face.
You need to clean your phone, too
If you’re seeing pimples on your cheeks or anywhere near the area where you hold your phone, they may be from your phone. Since it’s always in your hand, your phone picks up lots of bacteria, which can then get transferred to your face when you make a phone call. Wipe your screen with an antibacterial wipe often to get rid of germs.

Simple Steps On How To Get Perfect Skin
With everything that has to do with taking care of ourselves, there are some things that we need to follow strictly! The result Super bright and clean skin that reflects health. Here are the 10 commandments on how to get perfect skin, how to be more gorgeous and glamorous than ever!
How to get perfect skin?
1. Do not touch your faceOne of the main tips of how to get perfect skin is to stop touching your face. Every time you do it unconsciously, the bacteria are transferred from your hands directly to the skin of your face. In this way the pores clog and create pimples.
2. Never leave your home without your sunscreenYou may have heard it millions of times. The sun acts cumulatively on our skin, resulting in the signs of our sun exposure occurring years later. Because, surely you do not want to wake up after years with spots and discolorations and wonder how you got it, definitely invest in a good sunscreen.
3. Do not sleep with your makeupAll day, make up, environmental drops and other factors are on the surface of our skin, preventing the pores from breathing freely. If, later, we do not remove makeup before we go to bed, then the pores will block and pimples will develop. Even at those hours when you feel exhausted, the special makeup wipes are the perfect solution. Simply wash your face with plenty of water to remove any residual product.
10. Do not smokeHow to get perfect skin? Stop smoking! Beyond the obvious reasons, intense wrinkles are created around the mouth.
Ask Your Doc About Antibiotics
If over the counter treatments aren’t cutting it, consult a dermatologist. Oral antibiotics are usually used for moderate to severe acne, especially on the back or chest, and kill bacteria in your skin pores. The ones most commonly used are tetracycline and erythromycin.
Like all antibiotics, they can cause yeast infections as well as more severe side effects and can interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills. They can also cause increased sun sensitivity, so you’ll need to be extra careful when going outside and use SPF daily.
For more extreme cases, your doctor may suggest Isotretinoin , which is used in moderate to severe cases of acne when nothing else works, but can have more extreme side effects.

Oatmeal Lemon Juice And Honey
The beauty of oatmeal is that it acts as a natural exfoliant and naturally absorbs oil from pores, making it a great, double action way to help beat blemishes.
Meanwhile, lemon juice contains citric acid and Vitamin C, which can help lift and brighten skin. It also has antibacterial properties too.
Last, but not least, honey is naturally soothing and antibacterial, adding a second dose of goodness to this powerful facial combination.
- Simply mix a handful of oats with a few drops of honey and a few squeezes of lemon in a bowl
- Blend well and then apply
- Gently rub the oats into your skin, moving your fingers in a circular motion, which will help exfoliate your face
- Leave it on for a few minutes and then wash off with warm water
How To Get Clear Skin For Your Exact Skin Type
Achieving clearer skin isnt a one size fits all approach. As with most skincare practices, its important to consider skin type when devising a plan for clarity.
Dry Skin: If you have dry skin, Dr. Ciraldo says to avoid any products that seem to cause flaking or redness on your skin as it can cause the skin to overreact to aggressively drying regimens and often produce more unhealthy skin oils to compensate for dryness. As a result, you might experience even more breakouts.
Oily Skin: For those with oily complexions, Dr. Ciraldo recommends using BHA to dislodge the excess oils that get trapped into the clogged pores. She also recommends adding a retinol to your regimen.
Combination Skin: Most people really have combination skin, says Dr. Ciraldo. The rule here is to always apply your skincare in front of a well lit mirror, she adds, noting how you might need to spot treat in areas that have the most concentrated breakouts. These spots tend to be along the hairline or nose. As an added precaution, Dr. Ciraldo says to never apply acne treatment products to areas that are already very inflamed or peeling.

Do: Clean Your Phone And Stop Touching Your Face
The bacteria on your cell phone could make you break out, which may explain the zits on your cheek. Dont rest your phone against your face, use earbuds instead! says Dr. Jaliman. We used to treat our phones gingerly now we know we can clean them with a disinfecting wipe or cotton pad dampened with rubbing alcohol. Whether youre on the phone or not, its also important to be mindful of how often your hands touch your face and, if you can, avoid touching altogether. Your hands also pick up dirt and bacteria and transferring this to the skin on your face could cause further breakouts.
Dont Be Afraid Of Oils
If youre still on the fence about facial oils, consider this more reason to take the leap. Oils protect the outer layer of the skin and provide rich antioxidants to prevent against DNA damage, explains Talakoub. She suggests layering an oil under your night cream for optimal results. Choose that is non-comedogenic. My favorites are ones with argan oil, sunflower seed oil, or marula oil.

Be Consistent With Your Treatment
If you want great skin, care for it each day. Sporadic care won’t do it. And don’t expect any overnight miracles. It takes time for skin-clearing ingredients to kick in. Starting a skincare routine now will give you plenty of time for your skin to adjust by the time you walk through those double doors.
When Should You Wash
You can dry your skin by washing it too much, so once a day is fine for most people. In the morning, rinse your face with lukewarm water. Use a soft towel to pat it dry. At night, wash with a cleanser or gentle soap gets rid of the day’s dirt and makeup. If you exercise, play sports, or have PE, you may want to wash your face afterward with a gentle cleanser. Sweat can clog your pores and make acne worse.

How To Treat Acne
Don’t pop those pimples! That can lead to infection and scars. Instead, try acne-fighting products. They come as lotions, creams, gels, and cleansing pads. Follow the directions carefully. If you use them too much or too often, they can irritate your skin and cause more blemishes. Just be patient — they can take 8 weeks to work. If your acne is really bad, get help from a dermatologist.
Be Careful Not To Dry Out Your Skin
Benzoyl peroxide products are great at fighting pimples, but can be drying to your skin, so only use them once a day at most. If that seems to be drying out or irritating your skin, switch out your cleanser for a gentle formula. Salicylic acid dries less than benzoyl peroxide, so it can be used with more drying cleansers, which might make it a better option if benzoyl peroxide isn’t working for you.
Cucumber To Get Flawless And Perfect Skin

Do: Say Hello To Retinoids
A topical retinoid can prevent clogged pores and help acne treatments work better and faster, says Dr. Jeremy Brauer, Director of Clinical Research at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York. These products can be harsh, though, so start by applying only a pea-size amount to your face and do it just once every three days. As your skin adjusts, you can increase to a nightly application and revel in the knowledge that your face is now after picture material.

Should I Invest In Any Special Tools Or Skincare Gadgets
Beyond a basic washcloth, you don’t need any specific supplies for your skincare routine, but there some at-home skin tools and gadgets can deliver major benefits. Here are some worth trying:
âï¸ Facial cleansing brushes: If you want to give your cleansing routine some extra oomph, consider one of these handheld gadgets designed to help you achieve a deeper cleanse. In our testing, some reported clearer, smoother more radiant skin after just one week of use. But if you have sensitive skin, eczema or rosacea, you’ll want to use these brushes sparingly.
âï¸ LED face masks: Similar to professional LED light therapy LED masks use visible light to improve skin by reducing bacteria, decreasing inflammation and stimulating collagen production. Different light settings target different concerns â for example, blue light helps with acne by reducing bacteria while red light is typically utilized to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production, and green light may help with hyperpigmentation.
âï¸ Gua sha tools: Somewhat similar to jade rollers, these smooth stones can deliver a mini-facelift effect thanks to lymphatic facial drainage. Based on an ancient Chinese healing technique, gua sha tools are largely used as more of a massage technique and a self-care tool, using gentle upward strokes on the face and neck to quell puffiness and swelling.
