Next in this Believe Beauty review is the Long Lasting Lip Liner in Barely There. This brand does a great job with their pencil formulas! This is so creamy and glides right on without tugging or skipping. It really feels like gel. The finish is matte and full coverage, yet it feels comfortable on the lips. I need more colors!

Claims: This is a moisturizing lip liner that should be creamy with a smooth glide. The color is bold, yet the lines are clean.

Are you curious about Believe Beauty nail polish? I tested out their Jetsetter Mani Nail Polish in Its a Long Shot. This is a super dark brown shade with a touch of red. It needs two coats to be full coverage, and it is very shiny. It has a brush that spreads out and is soft, which is my favorite kind. The claim that one coat is all you need is not true. Overall, this looks and wears like any other standard nail polish, and I approve.

Claims: You should get full coverage color in one swipe.

Dollar General Expands Own Brand Beauty Line With Believe Skin

Dollar General is set to expand its Believe Beauty store brand with the introduction of Believe Skin, a line of products that are said to provide a modern approach to skin care with completely vegan and cruelty-free formulas, the company told Store Brands ahead of its release.

The retailer launched Believe Beauty in 2019, consisting of more than 150 products across beauty categories from skin foundation to eyeshadow and brow kits.

Like the Believe Beauty lineup of products, the Believe Skin products will be priced at $5 or less. The retailer told Store Brands that Believe Skin will include 11 products such as a cleanser, moisturizer, exfoliating pads and more, and that the line was developed by Maesa, a beauty brand incubator for private retail and celebrity lines.

The products were developed without animal testing and are free of parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, petroleum, triclosan and animal products.

Earlier in the year, Dollar General also introduced another store brand with vegan and cruelty-free formulas that carries a strong, modern appeal Root to End, that fits alongside the Believe Skin and Believe Beauty lines. The line of 10 hair care products such as shampoos and styling products come free of SLS/SLES, parabens, phthalates and mineral oil.

Has there ever been a fall from grace as far and as forceful as that of the iconic St. Ives Apricot Scrub? We think not.

The grainy exfoliator was a cult-favorite for years back in the day until consumers caught onto the fact that it was hurting their skin more than helping it.

In 2016, a lawsuit was filed against St. Ives and its parent company, Unilever, claiming that the crushed walnut particles the product relied on for exfoliation actually caused microtears in the skin, leading to infection and overall irritation.

The verdict

Dermatologists agree that ground walnuts are a skin care no-no, and while the St. Ives lawsuit was ultimately dismissed, the internet still agrees: Its better to be safe than sorry, no matter how good this stuff smells.

If you still crave the freshly buffed feeling of a physical exfoliant, look for hydrogenated jojoba beads or gentle corn grains instead.

This is the Long Lasting Eyeliner in Caviar. Yet again we have that super creamy, gel-like formula that glides on without skipping or tugging. This would be beautiful to smudge! It is matte black, full coverage, and lasts. It even holds up amazing on the water line. Let me just say I was a bit emotional. the day that I tested this, and it held up.

Claims: This creamy eyeliner glides on easily with a defined line, or you can smudge it.

Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick In Charmed

First in this Believe Beauty review is their Velvet Matte Lipstick in Charmed. It apples with full-coverage in one swipe, and dries down to be completely matte in minutes. The formula does not dry out the lips, so there is no flaking. In the look below I should have exfoliated my lips prior to applying this, which is my error. This product feels comfortable on the lips, almost as if it is not matte or dried down. It has little to no transfer and lasts well all day. You can layer this to re-apply if you need to. This brown tone is great for fall, but I want more colors!

Claims: This liquid lipstick should be comfortable, creamy, lightweight, and full coverage.

Eyebrow Styling Gel In Dark Brown

Here is the Eyebrow Styling Gel in Dark Brown. Again, this is very dark in hue. It leaves the eyebrows with a shiny finish, but the hold is firm and flexible. The spoolie is tiny like many other gels. However, this formula is highly wet. I use gels virtually every day, and this made a complete mess around my eyebrows! I never clean up with concealer, but I had to for the first time. I tried this again being extra careful, and it made less mess but it is not perfect. The wet formula simply flicks onto the skin causing unnecessary cleanup. I recommend trying the clear version.

Claims: This brow gel should adhere to the hairs to make a naturally shaped, defined brow. They should look fuller and fluffier.

Testing Dollar Generals New Makeup Line Believe Beauty

A new makeup line has hit store shelves, and it is very affordable!

The Dollar General has created its own line called Believe Beauty, and a majority of the products are under $5.

Consumer reporter Annie Taylor tested the makeup to see how it compares to the high-end lines and if its safe to use.

Believe Beautys foundation and face powder contained ingredients that initially raised some flags, including talc and mica.

In large concentrations, for example talc, if you inhale it, can cause lung disease, says dermatologist Dr. Neina Dajani. But in makeup and in small amounts, they are considered safe.

There were also a lot of preservatives on the ingredient list.

Preservatives come off as a bad thing, but its not, Dr. Dajani says. You dont want bacteria and fungus growing in your makeup.

The manufacture who makes the Dollar General makeup also makes celebrity Drew Barrymores Flower Beauty and clothing brand Zaras makeup line.

The difference is the packaging, the celebrity endorsements, and they may make sure they put more effort into the makeup going on more elegantly, says Dr. Dajani. The pigments are more high-end and the fragrance is more high-end, but the ingredients really are the same.

When using the products, it took a little bit more blending and more product to get the makeup looking flawless on the skin, but ultimately, the end result looks similar to a high-end makeup look.

Over all, Taylor gives the Dollar General makeup a B rating.

Get excited for this full face of Believe Beauty look! I am wearing nearly everything featured in this blog post. For the lips I went with the Satin Crush Lipstick in Soft Rose. I used the highlight palette instead of the stick.

The eyeshadow palette does not have shade names, but I will refer to it by number. To begin, apply shade four to the crease. Next, apply shade three to the eyelid. Then, apply shade five to the outer corner, and along the lower lash line. Finish the look by highlighting the brow bone and inner corner with shade one.
